What We Do

Who we are?

Canopy Of Hope Africa (COHA) is a United States of America/ West African registered non-for-profit organization that is dedicated to meeting the needs of underprivileged children, youths, and pregnant women suffering from poverty, disability, despair, and illiteracy in Africa. We reach out to communities and give them hope under a higher standard of collaboration with individuals, corporations, and organizations acting for the economic and social progress of the United States and Africa.

For Prince Ike Nwaturuocha, the COHA president, it is unacceptable and inexplicable that in the 21st century, unprivileged communities in Africa are deprived of their most basic amenities. For example, children are not entitled to a decent daily meal, do not have access to the most basic health care, and are forced to walk more than 18 miles to school/ work in inhuman conditions. In addition, women, especially girls, are exposed to debauchery from an early age. All these abuses, which are not exhaustive, are a direct consequence of poverty, which hinders the development of Africa and its communities if addressed; therefore, we must act and act quickly to render assistance.

Not being able to remain sensitive to the plagues, Prince Nwaturuocha feels the philanthropic vocation to go to the rescue of this vulnerable population by contributing so modest as it is to relieve the misery and create favorable conditions to allow these communities to develop and flourish. That is why all COHA's goal is geared towards finding solutions to the issues faced by the communities in Africa. To do this, COHA's field of activity focuses on different areas, such as good education, food, housing, health, agriculture, and Infrastructure, with a more pragmatic approach that considers the local realities of the target population.

Our Strategies

To reach its objectives, COHA spreads its action plan in the short term (achievable immediately in a short time), in the medium and long term (durable solutions that will require a significant schedule).

  • By serving the community directly and accountable, COHA endeavors to ensure that contributions donations are allocated to the intended recipients.

  • Despite our limited capital base and resources, we have accomplished a lot and intend to accomplish more intended goals. We work within our means and try to maintain with our budget/finance. Our present staff consists mainly of volunteers, that maintain their daily professions while volunteering time and energy to this worthwhile cause.

  • COHA avoids bureaucracy. For the past years, we have spent our annual vacations in many African countries.

Our Values

  • Integrity and transparency: Value donors by providing documentation and using the donations as expected.

  • Respect: Treating people with the respect and professionalism they deserve.

  • Accountability: Explain what we do, how, and what is expected from us.

  • Realistic: Pursue the development of realistic programs with a passion for excellence and never promise more than we can do.

  • Dignity: treating everyone with dignity and consideration.

  • Compassion: We reach out to the most vulnerable people and offer real support to reconstruct their lives.
